An Atlanta Anarchist Assembly

Date/Time:
Sat, 07/06/2013 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Location:
Coan Park
1530 Woodbine Ave SE
Atlanta, GA
United States

There hasn't been an assembly in a while but it seems like time to for another...

Since the last assembly there has been an extreme rise in fascism in the state and in the country. In Atlanta alone there was a NSM/KKK rally and now there are flyers around Georgia State University calling for the creation of a White Student Union. There has been a lot of talk on the internet and in-person about what should be done and perhaps an assembly is needed to bring everyone together to figure out what can be done.

Also, George Zimmerman has a large chance of being aquitted in the coming week. How will anarchists, anti-capitalists, and anti-authorians respond to that?

Lastly, there have been several insurrections happening all over the world - Turkey, Brazil, and Egypt (once again)

If you can be there, BE THERE. Spread the word. These are only a few of the things coming up so there is a lot to discuss.

---------- CALL OUT ----------------------

Calling all anarchists and the anarcha-curious,

It's time for another assembling of the crews.

Come prepared with:
ideas,
Report backs
Old projects
New projects
Topics of interest
Topics to debate
Criticisms
etc.

Organizations, collectives, and groups:
Please bring whatever literature you might want to share and try to come ready to present new projects or ways in which people can get involved. Also, please consider coming with ideas for future collaborations with other anarchist groups and collectives.

As usual, the assembly will not be a decision-making body but rather a space to facilitate the exchange of ideas and spark new collaborations. it will not create platforms or manifestos. Stack will be taken but there will be no formal moderation or facilitation.

The assembly will maintain:
- A rejection of all forms of hierarchy, including capitalism, patriarchy, white supremacy, heterosexism, and party based politics.
- Support for organizing on a non-hierarchical basis that promotes autonomy, solidarity, and the agency of those affected by each decision.
- Working actively to build relationships and institutions that are based on equality, self determination, mutual aid, and sustainability.

People who exhibit oppressive behavior will be ejected from the assembly.

Disclaimer: This is a public call to an open meeting, expect to discuss topics in a way that maintains a culture of security, as this will not be a secure space.

Anarchist movement?
There's an anarchist movement?

If you want to insult anarchists at least learn a thing or two about them first.

Just saying.

Re: An Atlanta Anarchist Assembly

inerestin' disclaimer...to maintain a culture of security it has to already exist...hard to understand how posting shit like this on the internet at your local "anarchist" website helps to create a culture of security... good luck on that one...
