This video is from the noise demo outside Dekalb County Jail on Feb 12th, 2012, in solidarity with Brian Allen. Brian was arrested Feb 10th at the sit in at Chase bank. His bond was posted friday at 2pm, but wasn't released until Sunday evening.

To learn more about the situation behind this noise demo, read the Atlanta Indymedia articles referenced in this page: http://atlanta.indymedia.org/local/video-chase-sit-take-back-block-glen-...

Brian Allen solidarity: The noise demo.

Brain Allen was one of the protestors known as the Chase 8 who were arrested Friday morning during a sit-in at a local Chase branch on Edgewood. The sit-ins were part of the escalation against Chase Bank in the fight to prevent imminent eviction of a home in the Old Fourth Ward belonging to the Pittman family. Bonds were posted for the eight at 2:30pm on Friday however, Dekalb County policy prevents the jail from accepting a bond until the inmates fingerprints have cleared. 10 hours after being arrested, the fingerprint process began. Brian’s prints were never cleared due to a mistake made by employees and as others began to be let free, he headed to the housing floor.

NYE Noise Demonstration

Fifty people showed up outside the Atlanta City Detention Center on New Year’s Eve to welcome in the New Year with a noise demonstration. Participants blew whistles, beat drums, banged pots and pans together, and screamed at the tops of their voices as two police watched. (Sucks to be a cop on New Year’s…or ever.) Our passion for freedom is stronger than their prisons! First one, then two heads appeared at a cell window—and then more and more lights turned on as prisoners heard the noise. They banged their windows, waved, and flicked lights off and on as demonstrators shouted. Brick by brick/Wall by wall/Burn the prisons/Free them all! The demonstration continued for over half an hour. As voices began to give out, instruments were traded and new chants were picked up. Tear it down/Tear it down/Atlanta wants a free town! A spotlight was shone onto cell windows, both inciting more waving and bringing new faces to the windows. Revolt!/Escape/your prison cell/Revolt!

Activists staged a protest against prisons and in solidarity with prisoners at the Atlanta City Detention Center on Friday, Dec 9th.  They made as much noise as possible, so that people in the prison could hear that a protest was going on.  Many inmates participated by holding up their fists, waving, or flickering the lights in their cells.

NOISE DEMONSTRATION

Atlanta, GA – I attended a noise demonstration in Atlanta to show solidarity for all prisoners. This demonstration took place on December 9, 2011, to mark the 30th anniversary of Mumia Abu-Jamal’s arrest and his 30th year of prison incarceration. Our aim was to draw attention to and show solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike in Pelican Bay and to the prisoner activists in Georgia and beyond, and to honor the life of Troy Davis.
