I often find myself sitting within this cell wondering what would Jesus do if he was face with what I've been faced with???

And I ask you... What would you do if it was you??? What would you do if your family was robbed at gunpoint and the gunmen put the gun in oyur grandmother face and threaten to kill you & your grandmother along with everyone else??? What would you do if your grandmother called the police and the police only cites the gunmen for trespassing and released him back into the community without finding his gun??? What would you do if the gunmen came back to your grandmother apartment and threatened to kill you all again??? What would you do if you're trying to avoid a confrontation with the gunmen and he appears in your path reaching for something under his shirt????? What would you do if you feared for your life and feared for your family safety??? Would you protect yourself and your family??? Or would you continue to be a victim of this gunmen who the police released back into the community 5 minutes after they apprehended him without finding his gun???

TIME TO PRO-COTT SEVANANDA

For those of us working to build a horizontalist non-capitalist society, Sevananda, the natural foods grocery in Little Five Points is an important institution. Sev is a local co-op owned by its 3000+ members. Anyone can join and become a “member-owner”

But Sevananda is in trouble now and may not survive. According to a bulletin from an anonymous group of “Sevananda Concerned Employees” “the store is suffering several years of financial loss due to [the recession] and the inability to keep up with new ways of doing business.”

The trouble is due to mismanagement by a small group of board members.

Reportback on Anti-fascist Actions in Atlanta (April 19th and 20th)

On April 20th, about 200 people gathered to protest an anti-immigration rally being held by the neo-nazi group, National Socialist Movement and the Klu Klux Klan.

There were only about 40 fascists present at the rally - in contrast to the 200 people prepared to counter it. Counter-protesters held two banners, one reading "Remember Tinley Park?" and "(A) - fight fascists". The surrounding streets were also adorned with some antifascist propaganda.

We smashed every window and a tire of their member Richard Wight's car. We did this to disrupt their conference, avert their attention off of the conference, to hit them monetarily, and show them that their will always be consequences for fascist organizing.

Anti-Police Riot in Edgewood Courts

Today, April 9th 2013, there was a riot in Edgewood, a neighborhood northeast of downtown Atlanta. The area is almost entirely residential and is about a year behind in the ongoing gentrification of Atlanta.

Around fifty people gathered for a "March Against the Police" with drums, banners, and a desire for vengeance at the playground in Edgewood Courts, an apartment complex in the back of the neighborhood. Edgewood Courts contains some of the few remaining low income housing units in Atlanta. Yesterday, the police pepper sprayed a group of kids and beat and arrested a man grieving over his lost father.

"On April 8th, residents at Edgewood Courts apartments confronted dozens of Atlanta police officers who were attacking a crowd of people. What made this event remarkable was not the repression -- beatings and arrests are standard police behavior -- but that people fought back.

The specific events are not clear to us, but we understand this struggle as another moment of the endless conflict between populations and the police designed to control them: Oakland 2010, Seattle 2011, Anaheim 2012, and East Flatbush, Brooklyn a few weeks ago. All over the country, neighborhoods have organized to resist their common enemy: the cops.

The strike began in June 2012 with 10 prisoners striking to protest mistreatment and poor conditions. It was part of a continuation of a December 2010 prisoner strike in which prisoners refused to work or leave their cells. When you work hard and do a great job you should be paid for it. Seems like a simple enough concept. My former employer Tonie of Barquick Corp. (a company hired by the Atlanta Journal Constitution to deliver its newspapers) fails to comprehend it. She refuses to pay me my last paycheck and is not even giving me an explanation. She is instead attempting to bully, intimidate and trick me into not paying me what she owes me. I know she has done this to others in the past. I know that she even does this to some on a daily basis. I will not accept this.
