Hey y'all.

I see some complaints in the comments, and because they're all anonymous, nobody really knows whether they're the exact same people who are posting the memes. (The book burning/Essential Works of Lenin pairing really sounds too good to be true...lol). If any of those complaints are "legitimate," then they're not being heard because only two things happen in anonymous space: lolz and paranoia.

To prevent the onset of paranoia, dismiss everything that is anonymous and all you're left with is lolz.

For real, though. If you have something critical or even cruel to say (as some of these comments suggest, assuming they are not trolls, which is not a safe assumption), it's best to say it in person where you know it will be heard. This is one reason why I decided to go to the film screening last night, even though people there called me (on Facebook, not in person ofc) a totalitarian bully whose mockery of Lenin is comparable to blackface and lynching, and several of them "liked" the Kasama guy's assertion that anarchists are fascist. (If "one" could identify a fascist individual in Atlanta...really, more serious action than internet trolling would be called for.) If I felt that strongly about something I guess I would probably say something in person about it or not at all, cuz it just looks kind of...awkward and/or cowardly to say things in cyberspace that you don't or won't say in meatspace, for whatever reason. This is one reason to hold back when you're angry because you wind up saying things in cyberspace that you'll regret or fail to vocalize in meatspace. Y'all know we are likeable people with good politics...whether you want to admit it or not.

That said, saying vicious things anonymously is not only cointelpro at its best (and regardless of what others may think, this party is not cointelpro because you know who is throwing it and where, so you can come talk to us and resolve/antagonize differences or continue complaining anonymously on the internet, your choice), it is just kind of flaccid social practice. I can't vouch for the other organizers of this event but I would actually sit down and talk with anyone who has a legitimate complaint about this party individually or in groups.

I guess, though, since this is the internet, what I just said doesn't mean much, if anything at all. Everybody knows this will just be water under the bridge pretty soon anyway.

And by the way this party is still fucking hilarious, the memes are hilarious, and it's gonna be a blast. All memes posted on this page (except the ones that attack individuals in Atlanta) will be playing on loop during the party.

I will just say this: The images here are not funny; they are offensive and deeply disrespectful to your comrades here in Atlanta, yes, but more importantly they are disrespectful to these great Men, Thinkers, and Leaders. Where, afterall, would we be without Them?
