December at the Hungry Ear
Montana Skies Their name, Montana Skies, is a metaphor for musical freedom, and they continue to follow their creative instincts far beyond traditional boundaries. In concert, these award winning musicians delve into music from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi, and House of the Rising Sun, as well as their own originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel. Montana Skies seemingly non-stop tour schedule has taken them all across the US as well as to Canada, Asia, and Russia; and their dedication to their musical vision has helped them build an enthusiastic grassroots fan base along the way. Combining elements of classical technique, jazz improv and the power and energy of rock n' roll; Jonathan's guitar wizardry and Jenn's blazing electric cello combine to create a sound that is truly remarkable. While the music defies simple categorization, it is a fusion in the truest sense of the word. It's been called everything from chamber rock to psychedelic strings. Whatever you want to call it, rest assured, this ain't your grannies chamber music.

Bob Bakert and Friends: Bob plays acoustic and electric guitars, writes and sings original music and songs as well as carefully selected favorite covers like you not heard before.  He generally perform with a bass player as well as other instrumentation including but not limited to, piano, drums, dobro, mandolin, banjo, viola, violin percussion and cello and it has been said he sounds like James Taylor, Nat King Cole, Michael Bublé, Gordon Lightfoot, Diana Krall. His music runs from Americana folk music to progressive jazz.

Our Hungry Ear fearless leader, Bob Bakert will perform with Adrienne Cottrelle  and Curtis Jones with backup from Insonnia band members, Terry Frye -bass, & Pete Orenstein -piano/keyboard. These talented friends may have another surprise or two.

Curtis Jones A.K.A Cortini has traveled the world for the past 20 years performing his original music, and amazing crowds with his phenomenal guitar playing. Curtis is a very influential guitarist in the world of Bluegrass and New Acoustic music, and has toured and or recorded with some of the biggest names and best artists in the genre.

Adrienne Cottrell makes up half of the talented husband and wife acoustic folk duo Tortoise and Hair. Both Adrienne and Dustin have eclectic musical backgrounds including musical theatre, jazz combos, bar bands, and church praise teams.
Pete Orenstein, Insonnia’s keyboard player is an incredibly warm and likeable character with a strong Classical and Jazz background. He graduated from Berklee College of Music and is the author of Camp Jam: Rock Solid: Keyboard.
