Creating community by sharing our stories

What is required for us to create a space where people feel that they can tell their stories, the hard stories, the ones that have changed our lives forever?  Trust, compassion, openess, willingness, deep listening, queit, attention, offereing a story first or in exchange, empathy, respect, oneness.

How would it feel to release a story to a group where you felt trust and really be heard?

How about to hear them tell it back?

How about the transpersonal transformative process of acting it out or even watching another act it out as part of a theatre of life?

What if your community came out to enjoy a production that celebrated these lives and the stories that we have horrendous and life changing as they may be?

Building community requires willingness and at this point much of our city and its neighborhoods are fractured, segragated, and in lots of pain-  when we bond with each other in this way we get ourselves into the mode where we can really be affective creators and changemakers.  There are so many social, psychological and unitive blocks which we hold that preven us from deeply working with each other and this amazing earth we live on.

Storytelling circles and theatre have been happening all over the country from small rural towns to inner cities to senior homes and prisons and these folks are transforming their micro cultures into real communities.  This is work though folks and we need it now more than ever.

This work is happening in Atlanta.  If you are interested in experiencing this stay tuned!
