Maybe you should learn how to type/write before you hit the "publish your comment" button. There's even spell-check built into this form. But I'm not surprised by the grammar and spelling errors, given that most of your argument is regurgitated bullshit. Learn the facts and then you can play with the big boys, if that's still the side you choose to take. I'm sure you wouldn't see it that way if you were one of the workers who were being exploited by a multi-billion dollar company.

By the way, I figured I'd lend you a hand and underline your errors for you. Let me know if you need me to explain them. First of all, you might need to know the actual name of the company if you're going to first inform yourself about what's going on, before jumping into a debate about the situation. After all, a simple Internet search would have shown you that the name of the company is SODEXO, not Sodexco, which was clearly not a typo since you wrote it incorrectly twice. Get a freaking life.  Sodexco employee's are not chained to the stoves/ovens/registers.  If they don't like who they work for - get a different job.  They work in food service - they can get a job at McDonald's.

I see nothing in the Constitution that states these folks have to work for Sodexco - nor that they must be provided top tier benefits, etc.  You want that changed... you should have protested for new laws, down at the state capitol a few weeks ago.

Also, food service contracts with companies ared base it on whats provided and for at what cost.  You want the best benefits, pay, etc. for them - then expect either higher costs or lower quality product and service. Nothing like a nice $50 pizza at the school cafeteria.

As far as the students go... Emory is a private institution.  You violated the rules of the institution, and were considered in violation of tresspassing laws.  You can't be "shocked" that this was goign to happen.  Act stupid  and you get treated as such.   You should be grateful they didn't leave you there through the storms to see if you survived.  But one must guess you would have expected free healthcare services from Emory as well?

No, these were Emory students. Emory students associated with the organization SWS: Students and Workers in Solidarity. Several of my own students are involved with this organization. Also, if you look up the situation (Emory/Sodexo) online you will find that there is a history of this issue. The reason more students were not involved was because, in order to be involved, the group made sure students participating in the protest understood they ran the risk of being arrested. Although many SWS members fervently support this protest (as is evidenced by the rallies they have organized, tabling they have done at Emory events and fairs, speakers they have brought to campus, information they have worked hard to get into peoples' hands, and numerous articles in the Emory Wheel, not to mention similar issues posed by other universities regarding Sodexo), most regular undergrads are unable to risk arrestation during the last week of the semester, exam week. Yet it was important, if you watch the video, for the group to stage the protest at this time because graduation was taking place. This event would have allowed them to make a more impactful statement.
Moreover, the coverage did not include the President because his office has repeatedly reiterated the same thing, that the University is not responsible for the actions of their sub-contractors. This is what SWS and others are trying to change: the University SHOULD be looking at its sub-contractors' human rights records when they choose a company with which to do business! And finally, the people representing the administration (i.e., the President) in this video COULD HAVE commented; as you can see, they chose not to, further underscoring the fact that their actions are unjust, because they are unable to even utter a single word to defend them! 

Actually they were Georgia State students.

I noticed a couple of things.  First the few protesters were chanting "We are Emory" and yet there were only a handful of students around.  With over 12,000 students don't you think that if this feeling was wide spread there might have been a few more students there?

Second, when the President of the University was trying to speak reasonably to the studentss later, the coverage faded out.  Why was not as much coverage given to the President as the protesters?  Wouldn't that have been presenting a more balanced approach to attempt to show both sides?  Jsut aksing.
