Video
Seven Emory students and supporters were arrested today in a protest against Emory's contract with Sodexo. The encampment in front of the administration building, which began Wednesday, had been continuous since then. However at around 6:00 pm the Vice President of the university approached the encampment. He said they were in violation of the university's rules, and needed to leave immediately.

The encampment in front of the administration building, which began Wednesday, had been continuous since then. However at around 6:00 pm the Vice President of the university approached the encampment. He said they were in violation of the university's rules, and needed to leave immediately. They said they needed 15 minutes and he agreed, but a few minutes later grounds workers were ordered to tear down the tents. They tore down all unoccupied tents, as w
ell as all signs and banners; the occupied ones they left alone. Then shortly thereafter the students who were still in the tents and refusing to leave were arrested for "criminal trespass" by Emory police. They are being taken to Dekalb County jail.
