ATL SHAC PROTEST THIS FRIDAY
**First and foremost, add my number: 770-896-4909. This is in case you need directions, parking or any other information the day of the protest.**
In conjunction with Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty's campaign against HLS and Astrazeneca, we will be protesting the headquarters of Invesco, which is the second largest shareholder in Astrazeneca. Astrazeneca is one of Huntingdon's top two customers. If Huntingdon was to loose it's two core customers, it would be forced to shut down.
The more of you that come out and protest these atrocities, the harder it is for them to continue doing this. The strategies behind the SHAC campaign, in the words of Ronnie Lee, "decimated a once powerful vivisection company and trepidation has been spread throughout the vivisection industry as a whole." That's why we need YOU!
For those of you who don't already know, Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is the largest contract testing laboratory in Europe. Every three minutes an animal dies inside HLS, totaling 500 innocent lives EVERY SINGLE DAY! They have about 70,000 animals on site, including rabbits, cats, hamsters, dogs, guinea-pigs, birds and monkeys. They carry out experiments which involve poisoning animals with household products, pesticides, drugs, herbicides, food colorings and additives, sweeteners and genetically modified organisms.
Astrazeneca has been paying HLS to carry out experiments for many years. In 2008, Astrazeneca paid HLS to do experiments on monkeys. The expose done on this showed animal cruelty related to the way the animals were transported, housed and misconduct and cruelty by lab staff. A couple of these instances included lab staff using staples and glue to close wounds on the monkeys, monkeys having tubes shoved down their throats to dose them with substances, lab staff failing to report illnesses and continuing to force doses on the monkeys (despite severe adverse reactions), monkeys being forced to inhale substances to the point of having blackened lungs and etc. Read more about this expose here:

Other exposes have shown the following:
-Video of dogs being beat, shaken, punched in the face, yelled and cursed at.
-During their xenotransplantation experiments, they breached the Good Laboratory Practices guidelines 520 times.
-One technician, Brian Crane actually cut out the eyes of a beagle puppy and sent it to his girlfriend with a note stating, “ I only have eyes for you”. On a separate occasion, a technician from HLS cut out the heart of a beagle puppy and sent it to his girlfriend for Valentine ’s Day.
-Video of a monkey being dissected while still alive.
-Animals being cut open without any anesthetic.
-Employees accidentally transplanted a frozen pig's heart into a baboon without thawing it out first.
-Lab staff describe the animals in their care as "rotting, but still alive."

Shutting down HLS is not only an animal rights issue, but a civil liberties issue as well. Read this article about the case involving the 6 political prisoners of the SHAC 7:

The SHAC Campaign has been very successful. Only a short while ago Fortress Investment Group pulled out of their involvement with HLS and finally confirmed dropping their loan to HLS/Lion Holdings. More than ever, it's important we keep up the pressure. Let's help make HLS history!
*Additional info: Signs and fliers will be provided. The closest MARTA station is Arts Center station. There is cheap meter parking and a parking lot on the side of the building, as well as free parking a couple of blocks away. There is also someone in south Atlanta willing to give rides. Get in contact with me for her number.
