POORER AMERICANS NEED WORLD'S COURT HELP !

POORER AMERICANS NEED WORLD'S COURT HELP !

by

WHEN THE WORLD'S INTERNATIUONAL COMMUNITY LEARNED THE TRUTH !

I hate to say it, but I do believe that this injustice that our US judicial system has been inflicting on the tens of thousands of our Middle Class and Working Poor Amercans (who are the least educated US prison inmates) with prolonged incarceration, is a very realistic human rights violation if not a crime against humanity issue.

The International World Court and United Nations should be investigating why only wealthy Americans are able to receive federal retrials using proper legal representation and US poorer prison inmates are forced to be their own best lawyers from prison and failing in mass at their opportunities for federal retrial reviews.

Our judicial system just recently released 360 men who spent 25 to 40 years being incarcerated for rapes they never committed! Had these judicial victims been given appeal attorneys for their federal appeal reviews, just maybe they might have been given retrials and not have had to wait until DNA evidence exonerated them decades later.

Until our judicial system becomes so perfected to always accurately charge and convict the right individuals with crimes,we all have to stay focused on preserving every legal opportunity for the truly innocent to be able to rise up and out of our cold hearted prison system that treats everyone in their grasp as guilty equals.

Southern Nuclear Company Seeks Early Site Permit for Georgia Power's Two New Nuclear Reactors at Plant Vogtle

The first step Georgia utilities are taking to try to get federal approval to build new nuclear reactors along the Savannah River is to apply for an “early site permit.” If the permit is issued, concerns such as water, land, public health, and safety cannot be brought up again even if we learn new information. For example, the new reactors will require tens of millions of gallons of water above and beyond the tens of millions Vogtle is already pulling from the Savannah River—this issue cannot be revisited again if the “early site permit” is granted. If approved, this permit essentially allows the Southern Company and its utility partners in Georgia to use the permit at any time for up to 20 years in any future applications with the NRC. Together, Atlanta WAND, Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League, Center for a Sustainable Coast, Savannah Riverkeeper, and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy legally challenged the permit.

The Savannah River basin and nearby communities are already suffering; building more nuclear reactors will only make this situation worse. Since the Early Site Permit (ESP) process allows a company to potentially ‘bank’ a site for up to 20 years, the NRC should have to look not only at Georgia ‘today,’ but the Georgia we are likely to live in several decades from now.

Capital Terminus Collective presents

Andrew Flood on Anarchism in Ireland

April 10th, 7pm at 11:11 Teahouse (753 Edgewood Ave
NE, Atlanta)

Free to the public

A decade ago the active anarchist movement in Ireland
consisted of little more than a dozen people in two
small organizations. Today hundreds of people are
active and one banned libertarian demonstration in
2004 saw 5,000 people take part. Anarchists are
increasingly replacing Irish republicans as the
bogeyman of the mainstream media. This talk explains
how this breakthrough happened and details the various
struggles anarchists have been involved in.

Andrew is an active anarchist organizer and writer,
with twenty years experience in Ireland, most of that
time as a member of the Workers Solidarity Movement.
More recently, he has been working as a founder member
of Common Cause, Ontario. His publishing record
includes well over one hundred articles, translated
into over nine languages, chapters published in three
books, and articles in seven English language
anti-authoritarian magazines and newspapers. As well
as numerous events in Ireland he has been the speaker
at meetings in Britain, Italy, Canada, the Czech
Republic and the USA and attended conferences in the
Netherlands, France, Spain and Mexico.

He has been editor of the anarchist publications
Workers Solidarity, Red & Black Revolution, Against
War and Terror and Linchpin. He was on the editorial
group of the first anarchist site to use the internet,
Spunk Press, which predated the invention of the web
(it used gopher). He has or is also on the editorial
groups of A-Infos, Anarkismo.net, WSM.ie and
Struggle.ws.

Think Peace DVD

Where were you on February 15, 2003? New film looks at modern day Peace Movement.

The Pumpkinhead Production Company in association with DreamHouse Cinema are pleased to announce the release of their documentary DVD, Think Peace: Portrait of a 21st Century Movement. Filmed at the World Peace Forum held in Vancouver, British Columbia from June 23 - 28, 2006 the film examines the make up and direction of the peace movement in the 21st century.

On February 15th, 2003 the largest protest in human history occurred. Millions of people from all seven continents marched down the street of more than 800 cities to show that they did not support the invasion of Iraq. Yet even at the height of its power the movement was not able to stop the war. What went wrong?

This and other questions are explored in the film as we talk to such diverse people as Hans Blix, Rex Weyler, and Holly Near, among others. With over 40 citizen journalists participating in the project, over 120 hours of footage were captured and distilled into a 55 minute film by director Corey Ogilvie of DreamHouse Cinema.

In order to promote the film and celebrate "the other super power" that arose on February 15, 2003 we ask that you join us in celebrating the 5th Anniversary of this amazing event by declaring that February 15th be know internationally as "Think Peace" Day

A portion of the profits from this project will go to assist the War Resisters Support Campaign in Canada and the Iraq Veterans Against War in the U.S.

People's Movement Assembly

01/26/2008 - 8:00pm
01/26/2008 - 8:59pm

On Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, there will be global actions against injustice
in response to a call by the World Social Forum for the peoples of the world
to act in unison against war, poverty, exploitation, and environmental degradation.

Atlanta, host city of the first US Social Forum, will be the venue for a statewide People's Movement Assembly, beginning with a caravan and rally at the state capitol.

Initiated by the organizers of the annual Poor People's Day events at the
Capitol and inspired by 2008 being the 40th anniversary of the historic Poor
People's Campaign for Economic Justice launched by Dr. King, this multi-pronged
effort seeks to bring the voice, aspirations, needs and demands of millions
of working and poor people to the Georgia Capitol.

Following the caravan and rally, participants will meet to exchange views,
plan ongoing actions and cement relationships and networks.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed throughout the state to mobilize their
communities.
